The Billings Depot is pleased to announce a new event: SteamFest 2018.
SteamFest 2018 is a maker event designed to teach children about steam energy and trains. A collaboration between the Billings Depot, Billings Library Foundation, Wise Wonders Children’s Museum and SCRaP, this event will enable kids, ages 2 to 12, to participate in sensory activities, experiments, train rides and reading all based on trains.
The maker movement is a trend in which individuals create products from unused, discarded or broken material. The maker movement is a way for today’s young artisans to create, craft and develop new and interesting ideas and products out of material that’s been discarded and reduce landfill waste.
During this event, kids will be able to roam about and participate in any of the activities they choose including: Create a dry ice vortex cannon, inflate a balloon without helium, make your own railroad pinball game, make and play with robots, create parachutes for a giant wind tunnel, train rides around the Depot, books from the Library’s new pedal-powered library, and much more.
The event will take place from 1pm to 3pm at the Billings Depot. Admission is $15 for kids and free for adults.
